A look at some of your best photo sharing options

It can be overwhelming when looking at all of the storing and sharing options available for your digital photos and videos. But which ones are right for you?

Let’s breakdown a few of the top options out there:

DropBox
PROS:
– It’s an excellent resource for synching and sharing pictures and videos between computers, smart devices and other users.
– It’s also easy to create folders and share them with others.

CONS:
– The downside is that you have to do all of the organizing yourself and compared to other cloud storage alternatives.
– It can become more and more expensive the larger your files get.

Photo Stream
PROS:
– It’s part of the iCloud, gives you access to your photos and videos on different devices.
– Easy sharing options.

CONS:
– This system works best with Apple products only. There are ways of making it function for Android, Windows and other devices, but it can become quite a process and still won’t work to it’s full potential.
– Creates a site that is only sharable among friends and family members who also use Apple products. Another shortfall?
– The only way it organizes your photos and videos is based on the date and time they were taken.

Social Apps
PROS:
– Great for sharing within a social umbrella.
– Traditionally, these sites cast a wider net and are shared with people beyond your immediate family and close friends.

CONS:
– Even with privacy settings, they seem to be a bit more public. This is obviously something to seriously consider when sharing pics and videos of your children.
– Minimal organization: Once you’ve applied a more discerning filter to what you share, you must still be the chief organizer for how your files are stored and displayed. In the case of Instagram, the only arrangement of photos and videos is the linier timeline in which they were taking.

Locket
PROS:
– Locket sets itself apart from other photo/video sharing and storing platforms with its creativity and intuition.
– A secure place to store and share you photos and videos, it takes care of all of the cataloguing and organizing for you.
– Easily sort through all of your pictures and videos.
– Get prompted and inspired to capture particular moments that you will definitely appreciate having in the future. It’s like Dropbox and Photo Stream but with personality, organization and creativity.
CONS:
– It may take some time to get into the habit of saving your pictures into Locket.

When looking to an online, wireless source for sharing and storing your personal pictures and videos, what is important to you? Is creativity and intuition something you consider in your decision-making? Or do you look for ease and security?
