We live in a horizontal and vertical world. We see this most often when taking photo or videos and are forced between shooting portrait or landscape. The recent ubiquity of smart phones as the primary source for many of our photos and videos has meant a movement to capture more of our content in portrait than landscape picture. It’s easier to be more of an observer when it comes to capturing moments in your children’s lives. Sometimes you do it as a documentarian, without creating a disturbance, you try to record a beautiful moment unfolding before your eyes. And other times you play more of a director’s role, telling your kids to look up, smile, or say happy birthday to Grandma!
